The Business Career Center is coming to visit you!
The Business Career Center may be visiting your campus this academic year to meet you and make sure you are up-to-date on recommended career prep steps and resources for first and second year Smeal students. Please join Lauren Watson for the Smeal Career Prep group session and/or 1-on-1’s when she comes to your campus! Visits typically occur in September/October and March. Smeal Career Prep Webinar for Campus Freshmen & Sophomores
If you’re starting your Smeal degree at a Commonwealth campus, you’ll want to make sure you’re looped in with the information that is shared in the Smeal Career Prep presentation. If the Business Career Center didn’t make it to your campus this semester or if you were unable to attend, you’ll want to join for this overview that will be offered as a webinar. This is typically offered the first week of November and the first week of March; check the Events page for details.
Craft a Smeal Resume
Whether your current resume is the same one you used to apply to college or if you have updated it after receiving feedback from someone else, it’s ideal to take the next step and format and organize your resume similar to the recommended sample Smeal resume, as this is a general layout strongly recommended by the employers who recruit most frequently at Smeal.
Smeal Career Fairs & Events with Employers
There are numerous Smeal-hosted career fairs and events for you to interact with employers throughout the academic year but especially at the very beginning of fall semester. You are welcome and encouraged to attend any event that is of interest before becoming a University Park student. Check the Business Career Center Events page frequently and contact a career coach for guidance on how to prepare for these events.
Meet with a career coach at your campus
Don’t wait until coming to University Park to start your career planning since this is something you’re doing from the moment you start college whether you realize it or not. Each campus has at least one professional career staff member to meet with you and provide direction with your decisions about how to spend your time at Penn State and how to make a positive professional impression.
