Networking for college students can be influential in finding, obtaining, and starting a career after school ends. When networking, there are some finite details that one must keep in mind during the process. First, be aware of whom you are contacting, rarely do you want to start networking with a high ranking manager. Start off with the new graduates, if there are any, that are working at this company, find out what they did to get to where they are, then ask for more connections in order to build your network. Second, be thoughtful of people’s time. Those who work are often busy people, they are taking the time to talk with you, so be prepared with questions beforehand, that way the conversation is meaningful to you, and they end the call knowing that they were able to help you.
