Startup Stories: College Grad Earns 100K-Plus Selling Shoes

From used textbooks to homes, reselling can be a smart way to make money fast. Did you know you can apply the same principles to sneakers? In this audio-only course, author and entrepreneur Chris Guillebeau shares the story of recent college graduate JV Ortiz. JV found a story in a magazine that outlined how a teenager was making six figures a year by buying high end watches and reselling for profit. He did some research and discovered a thriving market for sneakers. Once JV figured out what sold, he created a process of buying new pairs, reselling them for profit, and investing the money back into his business. After sharing JV’s story, Chris points out that JV’s success is all about managing inventory, finding out what people want, and figuring out optimal price points. These ideas can apply to other markets. What could you experiment with?
