Meet Hope Kelly, a Senior Marketing major pursuing her International Business minor. During her internship with Penn State Athletics, she worked directly under a director of marketing and was able to learn new concepts in the industry. Along with the new marketing ideas and campaigns she helped run due to COVID-19, she was able to gain exposure to the operations side of the events, and how the team managed to stay agile with new restrictions being released daily. 
Her favorite part about working closely with a small team was that her voice was always heard. If she had a creative idea for a new social media post and it was well-received, she got to see her vision come to life and be posted on the Instagram page.
Her advice for students seeking internships is to create your LinkedIn profile as early as possible. Connect with classmates, professors, and coworkers, but then go the extra step and connect with recruiters from companies you’re interested in working for. Message those recruiters, the only bad thing that could happen is they say no.
