Intern Spotlight: Jocelyn Wisdo

Name: Jocelyn Wisdo

Company: Walmart

Major: Supply Chain and Information Systems

“This summer I had the opportunity to work for Walmart at their Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas. When I first started, I was very intimidated to be working for the Fortune 1 company. However, the culture and atmosphere of Walmart is indescribable and they immediately welcomed me with open arms. They have a way of making you feel like you are working for a small company because of the amount of support they give you; they want you to succeed. My project this summer was to analyze several different departments End of Life strategy (items coming off of the modular/being deleted) and then create One Best Way to be used across all business units. My favorite part of my experience with Walmart was that my project required me to talk to multiple people from 14 different departments. I was able to see different sides of the business and network with many people. For those seeking an internship, keep an open mind when talking to companies at the career fair because this is the time that you can really search around and see what you like and don’t like in a company.  Really learn to sell yourself because you want to make them think that you will be an asset to their business and that they need you on their team. Confidence is key!”
